We highly recommend using a flat blade nylon tool for this step to avoid scratching your casing. Starting in the corner nearest the firewire port, pry up with your flat tool at the spot where the metal and white plastic meet. You may need to work your tool into the groove a bit and then pry up. The white plastic will then lift up slightly. With the part flipped over, you will notice a thin shiny part. This is the battery, and it is adhered to the hard drive by two sticky strips, one on both ends of the battery. Use your flat tool to separate the battery from the sticky strip on both ends.The orange cable going into the hard drive is the hard drive connector. Grasping the cable in one hand, and the hard drive in the other, the connector will easily come free from the hard drive. To remove the hard drive cable, use your flat tool to pry up on the other end of the connector cable as shown. The cable should come off easily. Be careful not to allow the screwdriver to slip as you do not want to damage the navigation device.
